HONOR GUARD
The mission of the South Metro Fire Rescue Honor Guard is to develop and maintain precise drill and ceremony procedures that instill pride, professionalism, respect, and tradition to South Metro Fire Rescue as well as other fire departments in their time of need.
The South Metro Fire Rescue Honor Guard performed its inaugural ceremony at the SMFR 50th Anniversary Gala on September 8th, 2001. This event marked the first of over forty ceremonies performed by the honor guard to date.
Previous ceremonies include: The annual IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorials, the annual Colorado Fallen Firefighters Memorials, various awards ceremonies and academy graduations for SMFR and neighboring fire departments, the FDNY 09/11/01 Fallen Firefighters Memorial, several firefighter retiree and line of duty death funerals, and two firefighter wedding ceremonies.
