Consumer Fireworks: Neither Safe nor Sane
The Fourth of July is upon us and perhaps someone you know is planning to celebrate with fireworks. While some fireworks are "legal" under Colorado law, even these are not allowed in some areas (such as the City of Centennial). Even where allowed, we believe all consumer fireworks are neither safe nor sane, as they lead to many fires and injuries each year. Need convincing, watch this short YouTube video about a family who lost a three-year old due to an injury from fireworks.
The Parker-South Metro Fire Authority does not respond to fireworks complaints, those should be made to the law enforcement agency in your area. We will investigate and assist with criminal prosecution if fireworks cause a fire. Please avoid fires, injuries, scaring pets and upseting your neighbors by taking in a professional fireworks display. Leave fireworks to the professionals.
If you purchase "legal" (those which do not leave the ground nor explode) fireworks, please remember that even they may be prohibited where you live. State, federal or local governments may also issue fire bans covering fireworks if the fire danger is high.
