Bureau of Training

It is our mission in the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority Training Bureau to provide timely and meaningful knowledge, skills and abilities for today's fires and tomorrow's fire service.  Our goal is to be collaborative, consistent, coach/consultants, customer service driven, and cutting edge.  We believe that our firefighters should be well trained and have the ability to test their skills on a regular basis. Our Training Facility provides us that opportunity.

The Training Facility houses an 80-seat auditorium and a modern classroom; and our training grounds include a training tower, live burn building, SCBA training building, roof ventilation simulation structure, driving pad and an indoor pavilion classroom.  Resources such as these as well as an updated learning library in each fire station, e-learning tools and training props; allow thousands of simulation scenarios, helping our firefighters in becoming the best they can be.  The Training Facility is also available for rent.  Please see our facility rental page for more information.

The Training Bureau is managed by Training Chief Michael West.  Chief West has been a member of South Metro since 1990 and a member of the fire service since 1982.  Mike holds a Masters Degree from Seton Hall University in Leadership and Strategic Communication. Additionally he has a Bachelors Degree in Management and an Associates Degree in Fire Science.
