Station 36 Service Area
The Parker-South Metro Fire Rescue Authority is considering how to improve service in the Castle Pines North area. It is currently served primarily by Station 36 at Castle Pines Parkway and Debbie Lane. Station 36 currently has a fire engine, a paramedic ambulance, and a water tanker (used for areas without hydrants). Planning was underway for a second station in the area at Monarch Drive and Hidden Pointe, though those plans are now on hold. Instead, we are considering moving the existing station west to the corner of Monarch and Castle Pines Parkway on land slated for commercial development. This document is a proposed site plan for a fire station at the corner of Monarch Drive and Castle Pines Parkway. (pdf file).
As requested by our board of directors, the fire authority has prepared a report on emergency services in the areas served by station 36. You can view or download this pdf document. It considered three options: build a second station in the area at Monarch Drive and Hidden Pointe; relocate station 36 to a more central site; or to leave the status quo. Since the original report was completed, we have conducted additional research and attempted to address some concerns raised by citizens in the area. That information is presented in this supplemental report.
The South Metro Fire Rescue Board of Directors is scheduled to take up the issue of whether to relocate fire station 36 again at its November 13th meeting. Upated information will be posted on this site as it becomes available.
Thanks to everyone who attended our October 15 public hearing. Written comments on the issue are being accepted through November 5th. Please send them in care of the Community Relations Department, South Metro Fire Rescue, 9195 East Mineral Avenue, Centennial CO 80112 or by email to info@southmetro.org.
