South Metro Fire Rescue Implements Local Disaster Declaration During COVID-19 Pandemic

South Metro Fire Rescue announces that the fire district will be implementing a local disaster declaration during the COVID-19 pandemic and outbreak due to the effects that it is having throughout its district.

Fire Chief Bob Baker issued the disaster emergency declaration today because of the imminent threat to public health due to the pandemic and the resources that are needed to help aid the fire department with the effort to take care of citizens and help control the spread of the virus. By implementing a local disaster emergency declaration, South Metro’s Fire Chief has increased authority to activate the necessary response and recovery aspects of any and all applicable local and inter-jurisdictional disaster emergency plans and have emergency funding as needed.
