South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) s a special district with roots dating back to 1953. The primary revenue source for SMFR is property taxes collected by Arapahoe and Douglas Counties, then transferred to SMFR. SMFR has a mill levy of 9.25 on the assessed value of property within the District boundaries. The District has the following funds: General Fund, Capital Projects Fund, two Enterprise funds, a Special Revenue Fund and three Fiduciary Funds.
Finance is responsible for:
- Preparation of the annual budget (PDF)
- Analysis and forecasting of current and future revenues and expenditures
- Preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (PDF)
- Cash management and debt management
- Billing for federal reimbursements for special teams
- Monthly financial reporting to the Board
- Accounts payable and payroll
