The South Metro Fire Rescue Authority (SMFRA), consolidation of South Metro Fire Rescue District and the Parker Fire Protection District, covers 176 square miles in Douglas and Arapahoe counties. The SMFRA provides emergency and prevention services to approximately 194,796 residents and thousands more who come into our communities to work. SMFRA serves the cities of Castle Pines, Centennial, Cherry Hills Village, Foxfield, Greenwood Village, Lone Tree, and Parker, as well as Castle Pines Village, Louviers, Centennial Airport, the Denver Tech Center, Inverness, and the Meridian Office Park.
SMFRA is governed by an elected board of directors which oversees an annual budget of over $66 million. The Fleet Services Bureau is an operation which maintains our vehicles and those of two other fire agencies. The Training Bureau has a “burn building” for live fire training, a training tower, and a driving pad for driving skills practice and simulating rain-slicked roadways. In addition, the South Metro Safety Foundation provides teen driving, CPR, first aid, and AED classes, and our life safety educators offer many educational programs for children and adults.
